Heather DeJarnett, Certified Nurse Midwife

MN Women's Care Provider Profile
Heather DeJarnett,
Certified Nurse Midwife

Heather is a busy person - just like the patients at Minnesota Women's Care. She is the mother to 4 boys ranging in age from 26 to 7. (She laughs about sending out high school graduation announcements and birth announcements at the same time.) She was a teenager when she had her first son and was considered 'elderly' when pregnant with her last. That experience has given her tremendous empathy and understanding for moms of all ages.

Heather says she's been blessed to be in a close family. She loves spending time with her boys, family, friends and long-time significant other. They all get together every month or so for "Taco Night." Every year they all stay together in a lake home/cabin, choosing a new one each year. They love everything about that - boating, tubing, waterskiing, campfires, and of course spending time together. Her career started as a nursing assistant right out of high school. She was drawn to the post partum floor, the closest she could get to Labor and Delivery. When she went to nursing school, she absolutely LOVED the labor and delivery experience. After she observed her first birth, she knew right then she wanted to continue her education and become a midwife. Now, after 14 years of experience in labor and delivery, she says the birth of a baby still excites her.

Heather is a conscientious care provider who listens and responds to patients. We recently received this note from one of her patients:

"Please send my sincere thanks to Heather for taking me seriously this morning, for treating me with respect and care, and also send a thank you to whoever scheduled my last-minute appointment at St. John's! Care like this is why I will keep coming back to your clinic."

As our busy patients know, there isn't much 'spare' time. When she is able, she loves working out at the gym and running. She told us she was training for the Twin Cities' 10 Mile Run. She did it! She finished in fine style.
